Hey guys, its FluCamp again!
To become a FluCamp volunteer, all applicants must take part in the screening process. Screenings are an important part of the FluCamp volunteer process as it tests your eligibility for taking part in our clinical trials. Part of this process means that applicants need to make a trip to either London or Manchester.
So, we thought, why not offer you some ideas of what to do during your visit to Manchester?

Here are our top three choices in restaurants, cultural sites and activities that we recommend you check out! Â And all these sites are within walking distance from the FluCamp screening clinic, Rational House, 64 Bridge St, Manchester M3 3BN.
Restaurants:
Option 1: Menagerie Restaurant, Food: American, Visit their website, menagerierestaurant.co.uk. One New Bailey, New Bailey St, Salford M3 5JL (5 minute walk)
Menagerie is an American styled restaurant, with an amazing interior design and exquisite ambiance to it. This restaurant is popular in the local area so it’s important to make sure you make a reservation. The amazing menu caters for all different types of foodies, with a great focus on desserts– making it the ideal spot for those who have a sweet tooth. Menagerie is also renowned for its cocktails, bottomless brunch and afternoon teas– therefore no matter what time your appointment is, this restaurant will surely fit your timetable. Option 2: Salvi’s Mozzarella Bar, Food: Italian, Visit their website salvismanchester.co.uk. The Corn Exchange, Corporation St, Manchester M4 3TR (9 minute walk)
Salvi’s Mozzarella bar is a fabulous authentic Italian restaurant, based in the heart of Manchester, only a short walk from FluCamp’s Manchester screening facility. This restaurant also features a deli shop, where you can pick up some delicious Italian treats to take home with you. If you are mad about Mozzarella and Italian cuisine, then this is definitely worth a visit! Option 3, The Allotment Vegan Eatery, Food: Vegan, Visit their website Fallotmentvegan.co.uk. This restaurant caters to vegan dietary requirements but also attracts all kind of foodies due to their excellent fresh meal choices and locally sourced food. This restaurant has an urban feel and delivers delicious tasting food with a focus on ethically sourced choices. If you have a vegan or gluten–free dietary requirement or are trying to cut down on animal produce, this should not be missed!

This art gallery was originally built in 1823 and features some amazing art collections and exhibitions. Make sure to check their website before going so you can see which exciting exhibitions are available on the day of your screening appointment, as some are only there for a limited time. This museum is open 7 days a week and is free to enter for all ages. The art featured in this gallery ranges from artefacts and ceramics, to oil paintings and beautiful watercolour paintings. England’s national football museum is one to visit if you are in Manchester and are a football fan! This museum only moved to Manchester in 2021, following its original location in Preston, Lancashire. This museum features lots to see, including sites such as pitch gallery, match gallery and score gallery, as well as interactive activities like their football focused trials, penalty shootout activity and pass master practice. The Science & Industry Museum gives focus toscientific research and historical development in the technology industry that led the historic building it is sited in to become known as the “warehouse of the western world”. This museum features various impressive exhibitions, including a new must-see exhibition, Top Secret: From ciphers to cyber security, in the stunning Special Exhibitions Gallery Museum which is currently open Wednesday – Sunday 10am–5pm.
